Food Love: I got my burger fix at Boulevard Diner!

I've been craving for a good burger since forever and I finally had that fixed yesterday. On a rare occasion that my family and I are out on a weekday, we decided to have "merienda" at Boulevard Diner.

The joint is on Xavierville Avenue and watch out for it because you might miss it! We sat down and pored over the menu and we actually took a long time in choosing our orders because the choices are so many! And I wanted to taste EVERYTHING! =D

Cge, try it yourself...

From Boulevard Diner's FB Page

So that's 14 Beef Burger options and 3 Chicken burger variations all with very promising and unique combination, plus you can customize your own burger?! It was a challenge to choose!

Finally we settled for these...
Volcanic Viktor ₱170

The Volcanic Viktor... 1/3 lb. Beef Patty with Lettuce, Tomato, cheese, bacon, 3 deep fried onion rings originally topped with their chipotle mayo sauce but it wasn't available that time so the hickory sauce was drizzled instead.

You would think that a monster of a burger like this would be difficult to eat or you would need a fork and knife (Uggh! I hate that!) to eat this but surprisingly it did not fall apart. Just press the top bun firmly and grip your burger and bite into it like you mean it!

Next up the Sha-zam!!!

Sha-Zam!!! ₱195

Just look at it.. I say this burger deserves that name! =D Served with the same 1/3 lb. beef patty with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, bacon and check this, a fried egg! topped with crispy shoestring potatoes?!
Breakfast Burger anyone? =D

The egg in this burger is cooked over medium so the yolk is firm enough but not too dry and not too wet for it to run all over your burger. I love how the egg gives this burger richness but the lettuce and tomato balance that. Personally, I could make do without the bacon, but honestly anything with bacon is awesome!

Notorious Nutjob ₱180

We also ordered the Notorious Nutjob. Aside from the classic bacon and cheese, it is topped with a sweet peanut butter sauce with fresh red onion rings. Perfect balance of sweet and salty!

But the real stars of these burgers are the Beef patty itself. They use 100% Beef no extenders! They grill it to perfection! And what makes their burgers perfect is that the patty is the right kind of juicy. Juicy enough so that the burger isn't dry but not too juicy that when you take a bite, all the beef juice travels down your arm, to your elbow to your shirt. Ew! =D

The perfect combo with burgers are fries and we choose a new spud addition to their menu.

From Boulevard Diner's FB Page

The Cheddar Charles.

Cheddar Charles ₱170
The order comes with 9oz. of the potato tots but before I could take a picture, all hands were in the basket! Haha! but I counted roughly 15 pieces per order. It's quite plenty, more for sharing!

Inside the potato tot is oozing melted cheddar cheese. Yum but careful when taking the first bite, the melted cheese is hot! =D

My order is paired with one of their Moo Shakes milkshakes, Chocnut Flavor!! This is awesome! My only problem would be the straw is too thin for all the creamy goodness! No ice chunks in my shake but the chocnut bits keeps getting stuck in my straw.

I would definitely be coming back! I would like to try their other burgers and their Wingerangs! I shall challenge my self to the hotter than hell level of spiciness! =D

Conquering Chatuchack Weekend Market

Seriously late but better late than never right?? =D Ahhhh... Chatuchak Market. If you are traveling to Bangkok anytime soon and you have been searching for spots to see, You'll most likely read that it is a must visit spot in Bangkok. Also called Jatujak Market or more affectionately called as simply "JJ" by the locals. It is only open on Saturday and Sunday from 6:00am-6:00pm. Unless you are shopping for plants, it's only open on weekends.

To get there you have plenty of options like taking the BTS and stopping at the Mo Chit Station from the Sukhumvit Line or the MRT and alighting at the Kamphaengphet Station of the Bangkok Metro Blue Line. But since we were coming from our tour of the Grand Palace and the Reclining Buddha, we decided to take a Taxi! =D

Once we got there my jaw literally dropped at this sight...

Thousands of stalls as far as the eyes can see, and I'm not exaggerating!! So we figured we need some reinforcements if we want to keep our sanity here. Presenting...

The Nancy Chandler's Map of Bangkok. At first I didn't want to buy it because it costs THB200 (If I remember correctly) but it is seriously helpful If you want to make the most of your time in Chatuchak Market. The map has details of what section of the market is selling clothes, furnitures, animals, food etc.! They sell EVERYTHING here! and it's in total chaos! One stall may be selling bags, the next will be selling bedsheets and the next one will be selling antiques.

Be in your most comfortable walking shoes since you will be doing a lot of walking! There are trams too if you are too tired but mostly, walking is required.

Cute abstract Wall clocks

Assortment of potential Kikay Kits!! for THB69 that's roughly ₱99! Not bad! Great for pasalubongs!

More colorful Bags and Pouches!

The heat would most likely be your foe when you're here. It's packed with people and the temperature could get really hot. Treat yourself to some freshly squeezed orange juice!

This is my favorite drink in Bangkok! It's so refreshing and cold with all the pulpy bits that I like! =D
And after hours of walking and shopping, I hear my tummy growling! Plenty of street food options but at lunch time, all the stalls are full and have a long wait list so I suggest to eat earlier or later than the lunch rush. We settled for home-cooked thai food that had available seats.

I could not eat anything we ordered since it's ridiculously SPICY!! It was a good thing that I had my yummy orange juice to save me! =D

After hours of shopping, we could not do anymore since our items are too heavy! You can also buy  shopping bags with wheels to carry your purchases to make it easy to manage. 1 queen-size silk bedsheet set, 5 kilos of Thai Dilis, some bags and shirts and 6 nikon lens tumblers later, we were ready to call it quits! Yes, the shopaholic has given up. So I must admit that Chatuchak conquered us! Haha!

Tips to keep your sanity:
  • Go early in the morning so it wont be too hot.
  • Invest in the Nancy Chandler Map to Bangkok.
  • Wear light clothing. The heat gets scorching mid-day.
  • Wear comfy walking shoes.
  • If you find something you like, and it's within your budget, get it immediately! It's close to impossible to find it again if in case you decide to finally buy it. (I learned this the hard way)
  • Be prepared to eat anything! Even if it looks dirty! =D You won't find popular fast food joints here and should eat as the locals do. Unless you wanna go hungry...
  • When buying clothes, no fitting allowed so make sure you pick the right size for you.
  • You can bring water to keep you hydrated but I find that it adds weight to your bag so just buy there.
  • Don't get frustrated with the arrangement of the stalls, because they are seriously demented! Just shop at a relaxed pace and enjoy the sights. I was in serious battle shopping mode since I've had high expectations that all the things I want in Greenhills would be here at a much lower price and I've been stalling shopping in the city until I saw what this market has to offer and I was disappointed.
  • Take a cab back to your hotel. It wont be too expensive plus getting back to the BTS/ MRT station is a bit confusing.
For me, visiting Chatuchak once is quite enough for me. I did not find great items here and the quality of the bags and shirts are not too well made but since I only bought them for THB100 (₱150) a pop, It was great while it lasted =)

Quick Post! Cute Spring/Summer Earrings!

Though I enjoyed our extended weeks of cold and breezy weather, it's getting warmer and warmer by the minute. Chilly weather, I will miss you. As the seasons change, so shall our wardrobe and now I'm getting geared up for a warm and toasty summer ahead! And that is a great excuse for more SHOPPING! =D

First up, accessories. I don't really wear big dangling earrings because I find them uncomfortable since some are too heavy and they always get tangled with my curly hair. I just save those times for special occasions. So I was on the hunt for cute stud earrings. And lookie what I found in such an unusual place!

The paper store that is around for so long now that I even forgot it existed! Papemelroti =D
way back, I used to buy recycled paper boxes and mini planners but I had no idea that they sold cute accessories too!

I'm a fan of any accessory set in resin and just look at these designs! So spring-y/ summery!

I got this because of the cute floral design and I never had peach/ orange earrings before!

And this I picked because of the floral/ vintage feel of the print. And the best part? It only set me back ₱49 each!! I say that's a great deal don't you think? And if you're not into florals, don't worry as they have a lot of different designs from monograms, to abstract prints to bright stripes and to other cute vintage prints! Also check out some of their bracelets and necklaces that are so affordable too!

I love finding or rather rediscovering stores like these!

Happy Summer!!

No 7 Sun Drenched Bronzer from Boots

Ahhh... Summer. I know most of you love summer because of the beaches you'll visit, road trips you'll be on and all the traveling. Count me in with all of those because I love them too but one thing that I don't like about summer is the sun exposure! I always spend time putting on sunblock since pre-mature skin aging is a no-no and the drawbacks to traveling means you're out under the sun, exposed! Gah!

But if you're tan this season, you're so in! So what's a girl to do? hmmm.. just FAKE your BAKE!! =D

No this is not a self tanning product but a nice matte bronzer. I've been on the prowl for a nice bronzer that is matte so that I could also use if for contouring. (Hello instant nose lift? =D) I saw some matte bronzers from some high end cosmetic brands but the cheapo me don't want to give in and the more affordable bronzers almost always have a bit of shimmer so I haven't found my perfect contouring/ bronzing powder until I found this...

The No7 Sun Drenched Bronzer from Boots! This is one of the beauty find I found in Bangkok. What I love about this product is the texture is creamy for a powder and it blends really well on the skin and it comes out sheer so that you'll never over-do your application so that you won't lool like you have been slapped in the cheek! =P

Also what's great is that it has 4 gradient shades from dark to light so you can just choose the shade that's best for your skin color or blend all the shades together for a natural finish! It's also a plus for a Make-up Artist like me so that I only need to buy 1 bronzer for all skin tones I'll be putting on make-up! =D

One more thing I like is that the shades are warm tones and not rosy tones which is perfect for asian skin!  I swirl my Suesh Contour/ Bronzer Brush on all four colors to give me a nice tanned effect but I usually use the 2nd to the lightest shade for contouring my nose.

It truly is a great product and for only THB550 (Approx: ₱790). It's not bad for that price since you're like buying 4 bronzers! =D The downside of this product is that it's Limited Edition which sucks if ever I run out on these. But if ever you ever drop by Bangkok, check out their Boots stores that are scattered all over and be on the look out for this product, buy it then give to me as Pasalubong! =D

By the way, where are you headed this summer? Do share! =D

(Check my new commenting capabilities!! I love it! Hit me up soon! )

Free O.N.E. Lip Balm!!!

Heyooo! No, I'm not giving away a lip balm from O.N.E., but rather a surprise came my way yesterday. Remember my post on the O.N.E. Naturales Travel Light Box? I loved the idea so much that I wanted to let the company know that it was a great idea and they should think about making the line permanent since it's just a limited edition promo. I went to their website but didn't see the contact us tab and saw their "Take a survey" link. I saw that below the survey form was a comment box and decided that I would just communicate with them there! (Haha I know what a weird reason! =P)

So I took the survey, answered all their questions then it was said that you need to send a proof of purchase to get a free lip balm for answering their survey. I didn't think much of this and never sent in anything but I figured they must have read the comment box so that was fine with me. =D

2 months passed and suddenly a small package was delivered to my house.

I was puzzled since I haven't bought anything online, till I saw the address...
I immediately opened it and saw my freebie!! yay!!

I love the feeling of receiving packages especially if they are for free! =D

If you love O.N.E. Products, give it a go and answer their survey! A lip balm might be coming your way! =D

Here's their website!

My Holy Grail Lip Balm: The EOS Smooth Sphere

Hey, hey, hey!! It's already the first of march? We are already 3 months into the year 2011! Summer is just around the corner and I miss our version of "winter" already. But what I won't miss is how the cold weather extremely chapped my lips! I tried good old petroleum jelly but it only hydrated my lips for a few minutes then it's dry again. Then I moved on to my trusty Carmex, but this time it failed me! Even tried Softlips, didn't work. Then I read somewhere that petroleum actually dries the lips more so I've been searching for petroleum free lip balm that is all natural and organic and paraben free so that my lips don't have the right to have a chemical reaction to anything!

So I shelled out ₱500+ for a Sensitive Lip Treatment from The Body Shop that just made my lips sticky and it tasted awful! So you see I was desperate for anything to work if I was shelling out that much money for lip balm! I did a bit more "researching" (i.e.: Google-ing) and found out about EOS lip balms.

EOS actually stands for Evolution of Smooth and if you ever see the lip balms you would understand why. The packaging is so CUTE!! It's shaped like an egg. That's about it. It's shaped like an egg and I can't believe that THAT is their main selling point. They call it the lip balm that makes you smile. Oh, it did make me smile but not because of the shape but because of the ingredients!

Taken from the EOS website:

Can a lip balm make you smile? We think so. That's why we invented this one.
  • Long-lasting moisture
  • Shea butter & vitamin E
  • Smoothes on clear
  • New smooth sphere precisely glides on to lips
  • Twist-off top
  • Gluten-free
  • Paraben-free
  • Petrolatum-free
  • Phthalate-free
eos lip balm is 95% organic, 100% natural, and paraben and petrolatum free. Packed with antioxidant-rich vitamin E, soothing shea butter and jojoba oil, eos keeps your lips moist, soft and sensationally smooth.

So you see how easy it was to love and want and need but again, It's not available locally!! So my stalking online sellers began. But it was so in demand in a matter of hours it get's sold out! Geez! I just resorted to begging for relatives and friends abroad to get me some but unfortunately no one is coming home so again I'm heartbroken..="(

My life went on, with ugly and painful chapped lips until one day my family and I hopped on a plane to Hong Kong. My first stop naturally was Sasa! Their cosmetics and skin care haven. And there all cute and bunched up in their jars was the spherical object that has been haunting me for months!
The EOS Lip Balms are in their Sasa Stores!!! WAAAh! I literally screamed and did a little dance of victory in finding the elusive EOS Lip Balm!! But I haven't tried it before will it work for me?

Three flavors were available at that time, the Honeysuckle Honeydew (My Fave!), Summer Fruit and Lemon Drop SPF 15. Good thing there were testers and I knew that I would love the Honeydew flavor, the summer fruit, still not sure but the Lemon Drop, I didn't want since I don't like citrus flavors for my lip balms. The original price is HK$60 (Approx. ₱335) but it was on sale for HK$35 (Approx. ₱195). Winner! =D

It was cold that time in HK so you could imagine my lips' state. I gave it a try and WOW! The texture is so creamy but light on the lips at the same time and my lips really absorbed the balm unlike other balms that just gloss over the lips. Also the curved shape of the balm itself is so unusual that I'm loving it! And best part was when I woke up, my lips are still soft and Yay! I could smile now without cracking my lips! So I dived into the EOS craze and never looked back.
I decided to buy some as pasalubong but decided to keep it all to myself since I love it so much! Haha >:P

EOS Holiday Pack + 2 HK Haul

You wanna know how much I love it even more? When Valentines Day came, instead of the usual flowers from the BF, he got me the EOS Holiday Set instead! We ordered from Shirlina of Get Sophisticated but sadly she's on a break from selling now. The Holiday Set came with a Limited Edition flavor the Raspberry Pomegranate with Sweet Mint and a Honeysuckle Honeydew balm.

I'm addicted to this and I treat them as my children so I also let them go out and play.. =D

Here they are, climbing a tree.

And here they are whispering secrets.. =P

Okay I've officially lost my mind and it's because I'm totally crazy in love with this balm! So if ever you stumble upon this, do try it! Especially those located in the US they sell this for only US$3.29! (Approx. ₱143) Lucky you! =D To those going to HK, Buy this!! And the rest of us here in Manila, wait until an online seller carries this. Pre-order and reserve one stat! And save some for me! =D
